God, I've forgotten,
Become numb to,
Your beauty and grace—
The simple peaceful reminders
That are placed in front of me
Every day.
Butterflies
And their magnificent colors-
Each so unique-
The relaxing song of hundreds
Of birds and crickets
Chiming together—
The peace that comes from
Sitting still and knowing
That You are God,
That all this is Yours,
That You created
Every bit of this beauty,
And that I am a part of it.
God, I have forgotten
The smell of freshly mowed grass,
And the beauty of rays of sun...
God, I've become numb.
I have forgotten
The sweet smell and taste
Of hot chocolate
And whipped cream
On a cool morning...
God, I know today
You guided me to the coffee shop
To remind me.
I thought about finding a book
And settling down to read,
But You provoked me
Outdoors so gently,
Filled my lungs with
Brisk morning air—
God, You know me so well.
God, this is my prayer:
Release me from
The binds of numbness,
And bring me back
To Your beauty and grace,
God help me to capture and share
The feelings that bring me
Such joy and peace—
Help my words scream
That this is all You.
Bring me back to
Details I can't ignore,
Bring me back to
Cherishing all I did before.
Instill in me a sense of being alive,
Bring me back to gratefulness and easy simplicity.

I am now the first of many to come to tell you I can never thank God enough for what I have and many times I think it but never write it.Now I can use your poem to trigger and thank God for all my blessings I have enjoyed for years. The simplest things excite me.I love watching squirrels race and chase as they have so much fun.I can't tell you how many times I have mowed the grass and said how wonderful the smell is.My list goes on and on.I can not say much more than what you have so lovely put.I printed out a copy and put it on my refridgerator door so I may be reminded daily of Gods love and your wonderful talents.Thanx for sharing.
