Laying Down the Hurt -- A Poem About Letting Go
63
Exhaustion
Confusion
Sadness
Anger.
Hopeless
Helpless
Giving it over.
Laying it all out
Laying it all down
Lord, where are you?
I need you now.
Too many nights
Spent like this
Lord, I can't go on.
I need your help,
I'm at rock bottom--
Lord, I have no where else to go.
Sobbing
Body wracking
I'm giving it over
I'm letting it go--
God I'm giving it all to you.
Lord, take me,
Take me as I am...
Mend me,
Mold me,
Hold me,
Take the tears--
The pain.
I'm asking You, oh God,
For your help...
I can't stand the constant rain.
Take me in your arms
Oh God,
And never let me go...
I'm asking You to take it all
Because, God, I'm letting go.
Capture me as I fall
In Your mercy's embrace
Wipe me clean
And show me which way to go.
For I am a wanderer,
Wishing to come home,
Now begging for Your mercy,
Lord please lead me home!
Take me back
In all my impurities...
Love me,
Hold me,
Use me,
Mend me,
Make me more like You...
God I'm letting go--
I'm giving it all to you.
